Pause for an update! ⏸️
Although the World Cup may feel like a distant memory now, we certainly haven’t forgotten the incredible support Spectrum WASP received during England’s journey through the tournament.
We were incredibly lucky to be chosen as one of the local groups to benefit from ticket sales at The Swan Pub in Mansfield, alongside three other fantastic local football groups.
The fundraising continued throughout England’s World Cup campaign, eventually coming to an end when England were sadly knocked out of the tournament.
We Had No Idea What to Expect…
On Sunday 2nd August, we were invited along to The Swan for a special cheque presentation alongside the other beneficiary groups.
There was just one small problem…
We had absolutely no idea how much had been raised!
So, when the cheque was handed over and we discovered that Spectrum WASP had received an incredible… £1,200! 💙 …we were completely shell-shocked!
It was such a fantastic surprise and a wonderful reminder of the generosity of our local community.
Supporting Our Tuesday Evening Football Club
The £1,200 donation will go directly towards purchasing new football kits for our Tuesday evening football club.
Our weekly football sessions are a much-loved part of our programme, giving the children and young people who attend the opportunity to get active, have fun, build friendships and, most importantly, feel part of a team.
Having new kits will make such a difference. For many of our young people, being able to pull on their own team shirt and feel part of something is incredibly important.
We are so excited to see the new kits in action!
